Shabbat & Holidays

Many of our campuses are closed for the holidays of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Passover. On-campus, we celebrate Jewish holidays with parties, educational programs, and learning. Some highlights include:

  • Daily menorah lighting all throughout Hanukkah
  • Break fast meals on fast days
  • Purim Parties and megillah readings
  • Meals in the Sukkah
  • Rosh Hashanah and Passover learning programs

We celebrate Shabbat together as a cross-campus community with monthly Shabbat dinners in Manhattan as well as overnight Shabbatons twice a semester both in NYC and nationally at conferences.

Prayer Services

Hillel holds a daily mincha services on-campus at Baruch and City Colleges. There are local synagogues of varying denominations in walking distance to Baruch, City, John Jay, Pace, SVA, Fordham, FIT, and New School.
