Hillel Love Story: Adam and Stephanie
Most students come to Hillel looking for Jewish community, a place to hang out, and food, but two students found even more than that — love. Adam (‘16) and Stephanie (‘19) met at Hillel at Baruch College and after watching a movie together for Stephanie’s class in the Hillel Suite, the two became inseparable.
Over the next couple of years, Adam and Stephanie would often be found together at Hillel. According to Adam, all of Hillel’s events and trips will always be remembered as the start of their relationship. Similarly, Stephanie has fond memories of bonding with Adam on the IAC Mishelanu conference that Hillel brought them on, sharing fancy doughnuts and playing Dance Dance Revolution; however, more importantly she says was the time they spent together in Hillel, just sitting in the Suite just doing work or listening to music together.
Adam and Stephanie went on their first date at Astoria Park, and on Thanksgiving of 2019 the couple got engaged in the very same spot. As the two were marveling at the view, an artist brought Stephanie a drawing of Adam proposing. As soon as she turned around, Adam was down on one knee. The two then got married in June, 2020.
The newlyweds credit Hillel at Baruch as their matchmaker for providing them the community and space that brought them together.
