Assistant teacher at Jewish School

Seeking:  educator to assistant teach FoodLab to pre-k and elementary school students. Involves teaching food science and plant-based culinary arts classes in an after-school program at a New York city independent Jewish school.

Preferred: experience with teaching early or elementary school education, major in education, nutrition, culinary arts, psychology, chemistry, physics, or biology.  Passion for plant-based cooking, nutrition education, and a sustainable approach to kosher cooking and eating.

When: Monday and Wednesday afternoons 3-5pm

Tasks:  Immerse yourself in lesson plans, lab work, and recipes; Prep food and set up classroom; Cook/bake; Teach/lead science lab work and cooking; clean up.

Qualities: Energetic, positive, curious, patient, detail-oriented, supportive person with appreciation and interest in progressive Jewish education and in teaching young children.

Compensation: about $25 per hour or in accordance with experience
