CAMP YOUNG JUDEA SPROUT LAKE- DIRECTOR OF LEADERSHIP INITIATIVES POSITION (SUMMER 2024)

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for cultivating the next generation of change-makers? Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Director of Leadership Initiatives for our upcoming summer season.

Position Overview: As the Director of Leadership Initiatives, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future leaders of our camp. This is an exciting opportunity to join our vibrant camp community and lead the charge in empowering our rising 12th-grade counselors through targeted leadership training, constructive feedback, and personalized mentorship. Your impact will extend beyond this cohort as you will contribute to the staff training week and continue to foster staff’s growth throughout the summer.

Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership Development: Design, implement, and facilitate a comprehensive leadership

    training program for rising 12th-grade counselors. Inspire and empower them to excel in their

    roles and become impactful leaders within the camp community and their bunks.

  2. Supervision and Mentorship: Provide ongoing supervision, support, and mentorship to the

    12th-grade counselors. Foster a positive and growth-oriented atmosphere, ensuring that each

    counselor receives personalized attention and guidance.

  3. Feedback and Evaluation: Conduct regular evaluations, offering constructive feedback to help

    counselors recognize and develop their strengths. Implement strategies for improvement and

    celebrate successes.

  4. Staff Training Week: Play a key role in staff training week by contributing expertise in leadership

    development. Collaborate with other camp leadership to ensure a cohesive and effective

    training experience for all staff members.

  5. Continued Staff Training: Lead ongoing staff training initiatives throughout the summer,

    addressing emerging needs and refining counselor skills. Foster an environment of continuous

    learning and improvement.

  6. Camp Community Engagement: Actively engage with the broader camp community,

    collaborating with fellow leadership staff to create a positive and inclusive environment for both

    campers and staff.

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in a related field (education, leadership, etc.)

  •  Proven experience in leadership development, training, or a related field.

  •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  •  Ability to inspire and motivate others.

  •  Experience working with young adults and/or in a camp setting is a plus.
