About the Role
The Assistant Controller will oversee the Accounting Manager, Programs Finance Manager, and ADR (receivables) to liaise with Israel operations, Legal, and grantees to provide financial expertise and assistance with grants administration and Accounting Manager oversight. The Assistant Controller will report to the Controller.
Essential Job Duties
The Assistant Controller will oversee the Accounting Manager (receivables, help desk), Administrator of Donor Records (revenue, cash applications), and Programs Compliance to liaise with Development, Grantors, Legal, and Israel operations to provide financial expertise and assistance with grants administration and Accounting Manager oversight. The Assistant Controller will report to the Controller.
Supervises, coaches, and counsels’ direct reports
Grant Accounting
Managing grant project IDs in Financial Edge and reconciling grant fund balances.
Oversight of processing grant payment requests and recording program transfers in Financial Edge.
Reviewing and advising on requests for grant modifications.
Analyzes and compiles grant data into composite reports as needed.
Assists in the collection, consolidation, and maintenance of grant data necessary to meet reporting and evaluation requirements.
Assists grantees and staff from across the organization with reviewing and monitoring grant information, including program grantmaking budgets, grantee budgets, and financial reports, grant payments.
Ensures compliance with the organization’s policies and legal requirements for grants.
General Support / Assistant to the Controller
Look for opportunities within the direct reports and overall Finance team to improve policies, procedures, and controls.
Provide support for the independent auditors' requested information for the annual audit report, 403b audit report and the 990-tax return.
Timely and accurate maintenance of the General Ledger and related books and records of the organization
Analyzes, reviews, and calculates, the non-deductible amount for each FIDF event.
Reviews and approves weekly AP requests.
Reviews and approves biweekly payroll for direct reports.
Super user of Blackbaud Raisers Edge CRM and Financial Edge software
Works with regional staff on various questions and issues, as well as headquarters and departments on various questions and issues.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
A minimum of 5 years’ experience with managing Grants, managing a staff, and accounting.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Experience in financial reporting.
Proficient in computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office.
Collaborative workstyle, effective working in and across teams.
Experience with Blackbaud, Financial Edge, or Raiser’s Edge preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Refining and documenting policies, processes, and procedures
Administrate program compliance procedures including program audits and review
