Temple Israel of the City of New York, a vibrant, engaged, mid-size Reform congregation on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, is looking for three or four creative, enthusiastic, and dedicated Religious School Assistant Teachers to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. If you are passionate about teaching, love making Judaism come alive for young people, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we want you! 

Our curriculum is interactive, modern, and rooted in core overarching values which are designed to engage, inspire, and guide our learners as they navigate the world around them. Our goal is for all members of our school community to explore Judaism through hands-on experiential learning, while cultivating a sense of pride and joy in their Jewish identity. We are uniquely sensitive and accommodating to the needs of modern Jewish families, including but not limited to interfaith families, mixed-race families, LGBTQ+ families, etc.  

We are looking to fill positions for K-3rd grades on Mondays, 4:00-6:00pm (class meets 4:15-5:45pm) 

All candidates should: 

·              Be proficient in using educational technologies in a classroom setting. 

·              Have strong communication skills for interacting with students and parents. 

·              Have a strong sense of their own Jewish identity. 

·              Be experienced in building community in creative ways 

·              Have prior experience working with children – teaching, camp, babysitting, etc. 

·              Possess a sense of humor. 

·              Respond well to feedback. 

·              Thrive on building meaningful relationships. 

·              Experience working in settings with children with special needs is a plus. 

·              Be able to quickly develop a positive working relationship with their cooperating lead teacher.  

Salary - $20-$30 per hour + compensation for professional learning
