Established by Birthright Israel, the Excel Fellowship is a business leadership fellowship for students planning careers in business or technology. The program helps students build leadership skills and networks to support the future success of the global Jewish community.

Birthright Excel is a highly selective business fellowship for college sophomores, juniors and seniors in the US and Canada and young adults up to age 26 in other countries. The fellowship begins with an immersive 10-week professional internship in Israel with Fortune 500 companies and startups. It is for highly accomplished Jewish college sophomores, juniors and select seniors in the US and Canada *(and up to age 26 for international applicants) who are pursuing careers in business and/or technology. Each Excel Fellow embarks on an in-depth professional internship choosing among a wide selection of industries: bio-tech, business development, consulting, engineering, finance, marketing, technology, startups, venture capital. Internships run during the Israeli work week, Sundays - Thursdays and each Excel Fellow is appointed a mentor at the company where they will intern. The mentor serves as both a supervisor and someone who helps introduce Israeli business culture. Often times, mentors and Excel Fellows form a relationship that extends well beyond the summer We take particular pride in several mentors/fellows collaborating on business endeavors.
The program is open to all Jewish young adults who are currently college sophomores (2nd year), juniors (3rd year) or seniors (4th year). Seniors must be committed to graduate programs or full-time employment in the fall of 2021. In addition, applicants from the southern hemisphere are eligible until a year after they have graduated from university with an undergraduate degree. A well-rounded academic background with coursework in finance, economics or engineering is recommended. Candidates must demonstrate academic strength. U.S applicants require a minimum 3.2 GPA (or equivalent for international students), strong standardized test scores unless test scores were not submitted when applying to college/university, demonstrated leadership skills and a high energy level. Eligible individuals are those who identify as Jewish and have at least one Jewish grandparent, or have completed Jewish conversion through a recognized Jewish denomination.
Application decisions for Summer 2022 will be made on a rolling basis. Interviews and offers will be granted on a rolling basis as applications are completed and reviewed. Cohort positions will fill quickly.
