On Project TEN with NEXT you have the opportunity to participate in a broad array of volunteer projects according to your interests. In addition to fulfilling the Jewish value of tikkun olam (repairing the world), you’ll gain hands-on experience while developing enduring skills and connections along the way. Typical projects include:
Kibbutz Harduf
Teach English to elementary school children in the Arab villages of Kaabiya and Zarzir, learning English as a third language (after Arabic and Hebrew)
Work with adults with special needs in Beit Elisha, a rehabilitative community in Harduf, in stables, ceramics, vegetable garden, bakery or cafe that they run
Work in Beit Tuvia with children and youth-at-risk who have been removed from their homes
Work in the organic farms of Kibbutz Harduf, one of the primary producers of organic food in Israel
Work in the forest village – biodynamic garden, ecological buildings (dormitories etc., group activity rooms, ecological bathrooms)
Mitzpe Ramon
Teach English to elementary and high school children in Mitzpe Ramon and nearby Bedouin villages
Work with Israel Nature and Parks Authority rangers, assisting them in their every-day tasks: regular maintenance of the sites, assist with different ecological projects such as vulture monitoring, invasive species treatments and more
Play a meaningful role in desert agriculture and sustainability, working in the desert and on the restoration of an ancient Byzantine method to exploit rainwater. Connect to nature and the desert through reconstruction, planting, fertilization of trees and more
Work with the volunteers of the Center for Art and Creativity in the Desert to help develop eco-tourism
As a Project TEN with NEXT volunteer, you’re also encouraged to identify a need and pursue new projects or social ventures of your own design.
