Salary Range: $16.50/hr - $16.50/hr

Job Description:

The Gun Violence Prevention Fellowship (GVP) offers young adults impacted by gun violence a platform to make a meaningful contribution to one of the most critical public safety issues facing our communities. Through hands-on collaboration with staff, mentors, and community partners, fellows will learn about the criminal justice system and help develop prevention strategies to combat gun violence. The program will culminate in a policy presentation to the District Attorney and his Executive Team.   

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Engage with DANY staff to learn about the criminal justice system and form a deeper understanding of the role of the DA’s Office.

  • Analyze gun violence issues through workshops, assignments, and conversations with topic experts.

  • Participate in community engagement initiatives related to violence prevention and interact with community partners.

  • Create potential content for DANY’s website/social media.

  • Create and present a gun violence prevention proposal to the DA and other Executive Staff.

  • Perform related tasks as assigned.

In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, candidates must possess the following:

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18-25.

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.

  • Must be enrolled in college, have received a college degree, or have 1 year of work/volunteer experience.

  • Applicants must reside in Manhattan.

·        Individuals impacted by gun violence are encouraged to apply.

  • One-page resume and a 300 – word essay discussing your personal experience with gun violence and or your motivation to work in the criminal justice field.

Hours/Shift:

  • Fellow must be present for the duration of the program from June 23rd – August 22nd, 2025.

  • The fellowship is in-person Monday through Friday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
